David Cargo

Cargo served as New Mexico Governor between 1967 and 1971. He was away fro the state during the Alianza courthouse raid in June of 1967, so Lieutenant Governor E. Lee Francis coordinated efforts to force Tijerina’s surrender. As governor, Cargo’s most prominent legacy was his creation of the state film commission.
