Gregg was a nineteenth century merchant and explorer who was involved with the Santa Fe Trade. HIs book, “Commerce of the Prairies,” is an important primary source that tells the story of the social, political, and economic impacts of the trade. As with so many other primary sources, Gregg’s narrative presents a decidedly Anglo American perspective of New Mexico and its people.
