Mission Statement 

CNM is the first post-secondary institution in New Mexico with an official Open Educational Resources Initiative. The mission of Open CNM is to improve student success and retention by supporting interested faculty with the adaptation, design, and implementation of open resources. Open CNM is a collaboration between the administration, faculty, and the Library. 

Purposes 

1. OERs lower costs to students 
2. Studies, like the one conducted by the Open Education Group, have shown that students are: 
   1. Less likely to drop their courses
   2. More likely to take more courses while using OER.  
   3. This means higher rates of student success and more tuition revenue. 
   4. Encourages faculty engagement, innovation, and collaboration 
   5. Supports curriculum development and agility 
   6. Supports student learning needs and digital literacy
